From the creators of "My Neighbor Totoro" and "Spirited Away" comes a visually and emotionally stunning animated masterpiece. The story of one of Japan's most notable airplane engineers takes the viewer on a journey through the mind of a genius new perspective on WWII. This film tells the beautiful tale of a man and his love for flight. It encompasses all aspects of great film, from meaningful dialogue to stunning cinematography. The only downside to this viewing experience was the pace of the movie. Clocking in at almost 3 hours long, "The Wind Rises" can be a strain for younger viewers patience. Otherwise I would give this film a 5/5.

One World
On this flying rock in space we all have to get along, or so we think. People talk about saving the environment and managing resources. Renewable energy is indeed a good idea and feeding the children of starving nations is a noble endeavor, but how capable of accomplishing this as a race. Would this earth not be better off if we continued on our path, leading to the destruction of mankind. In the long run the earth would regenerate. Maybe we should all pile into a spaceship and head for some distant planet. Running away seems to offer more promise than attempting to actually fix our problems.

Saving Private Ryan Reveiw
Saving Private Ryan
I haven’t seen a well-placed cast
since the outsiders directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Tom Hanks gave one of his
best performances being the “Captain”. Tom Hanks gives captain miller such a
unique personality; He’s bold, smart, and mysteries. Captain Miller would get
random shakes in his hands that happen when something wrong, intense, or just
nervous. The rest of the GI’ characters did an extraordinary job as well Matt
Damon (private Ryan), Edward Burns, Tom Sizemore, Vin Diesel, Berry Pepper,
Adam Goldberg, and much more. Berry Pepper played Private Jackson who is a
sharpshooter for the Rangers who calls on the lord while taking to aim on the
enemy. Private Jackson gets the team back on the road to the mission after
running into problem.
Stephen Spielberg opens the film with
a war veteran visiting the American Cemetery at Normandy with his family. He
steps away from his family to look at one of the memorial, and get emotional.
The war veteran starts to cry and sets this story with a flashback to one of
the world’s brutal days on earth. Going right into a twenty-five minute blood
bath on the beach was one of the best realistic, powerful re-creation of World
War II. The Rangers are deployed on the beach and carefully moving up, watching
friends, and combat solders being shot, blown up, and/or burned alive. Pieces of
limbs being tarred right off and Bodies laid out allover the beach. The Rangers
move up with the next wave of solder and carefully take over the gunners that
slaughtered thousands of solder. On the beach littered with blood, guts, and
body parts was one with the name Ryan stenciled on his backpack.
Army chief of staff General George C.
Marshall learns that three Ryan’s from the same family have all been killed in
action within all in the same week. Since the Ryan family would be getting
three letters in the same week, the military sent out a request that the
surviving brother private Ryan to be located and be brought back to the united
states, to carry on the family name and start his life.
Captain Miller and the GI’s are sent
out to areas that are thick with Nazis. The rangers have a harder challenge to
adore due to that private Ryan’s squad was deployed in a different location
that made the mission like a needle in a haystack. The Rangers going to platoon to platoon
searching though dog-tags and people for Private Ryan with his lucky ticket
home. The Rangers start to get their doubt that he’s still alive, after loosing
a fellow friend, warrior, and hero that was shot three times in a bomb village.
The group gets emotional because they know that they can’t save him. Some in
the group questions the logic of risking more lives just to save this one man.
If you haven’t seen this motion
picture yet, you are missing out. This film has it all Blood, drama, bravery,
courage, dedication, friendship, and good old fashion American muscle. If you
don’t like any of these things, then you`re not an American.

The World is Yours.. Go Get It
I think this really says a lot about what people can accomplish in life. Since I was a kid my parents have told me I can do anything I want in life as long as I set my mind to it. Once again they were right. The only thing that can keep you from doing whatever you want to accomplish in life, no matter how crazy it might seem, is yourself. If you have a dream, set goals and go after it, don't sit and sulk about not getting anywhere when the world is right here in your hands.

I do agree with Hardin, people do have the choice to get on a lifeboat or not. Hardin talks about fishing fleets and how they get lost in different parts of the world, But fishermen know how dangerous it can be out in the middle of the sea.

Swans reflecting elephants was a pretty cool painting it had light colors and dark colors, images that stand out and show something else. you would see three beautiful swans in one glance of the painting and then that second look you will notice that the swans are elephants as well.
Perceptions of Time show that time just melts away with out warning. I also see that the artist drew the melting clocks in a open area. the clocks in an open area might m a metaphor for making more space for time. time that can be spent the right way.

My favorite song is a country song by Zac Brown Band called Knee Deep. Knee Deep puts me in such a great mood, even if I'm having a bad day. This song just bring me to my own kind of special place.
"Wishing I was Knee deep in the water somewhere . Got the blue sky breeze and it don't seem fair
Only worry in the world is the tide gonna reach my chair"
" Sunrise there's a fire in the sky
Never been so happy
never felt so high
And I think I might have found me my own kind of paradise"
I see myself out on the water, my pole casted, and with a nice cold one in my hand. relaxed and enjoying the time.

This is how I feel at the end of the year of my freshman year at college. I made it through and I am still living. It was an up and down with the year with certain things. Wish I did different things and got better grades. But I just want to be home right now, I need to be home with my family and sleep in my own bed and eat good food. College was fun and I can not wait till next year to come back to college. But its the final countdown right now and its so exciting to pack up and leave and see how I did(third tri, not so good), hopefully good. Home here I come and I can not wait.

What You Give, is What You Get
This is a perfect quote that everyone should be looking and thinking of whenever they do things. Now of days people do stuff, and want a big reward from it. But they do very little to achieve that reward. So if I was there and I did more and didn't get anything I should deserve that reward. This is how life should work, and it does work. You need to work hard to achieve what you want in life. So if you put in a lot of work, you will get a lot in return for your actions. If you put in very little, they you will not get that much back. People have the misconception of, I'll just do a little and get so much in return. But the world doesn't work like that. People have to work very hard to get what they want in life. So this quote drives me to be a better person by striving for what I want, with all I have. So that I do not slack and think I will get a lot.

Christina's World
Many things are represented in this picture. The picture is showing how misleading some things can be shown. This picture was drawn by Andrew Wyeth. The girl looking at a house in the distance can be many things. The first one is a simple question, as in who is this girl? Is her name really Christina? This girl can be anyone. Another good question is who's house is in the distance? It can be her house, a significant others house, or maybe a haunted house who knows it can be anything. Me I think it is a haunted house. Now the final and last question is why is she so far away from the house? Is she spying on the house, something is in the house, or maybe she fell and twisted her ankle and is now crawling back to the house. Many things can be rationalized when you do not have the whole picture. This picture is both interesting and misleading. It gives you a picture but no details.

Lifeboat Ethics- I do not agree
When it comes to the Lifeboat Ethics, I completely understand what Hardin is say about a lifeboat. When it comes to the world overall being considered as a "spaceship," that is just asking for something terrible to happen. Each and every person on this earth has a say, and not everyone always agrees or disagrees on a topic. I would rather be safe that sorry. So with this being said, I disagree.

Life Boat Ethics
I do not agree with Hardin. He made sense when it came to the ocean metaphor though. That was a small enough scale. When you're talking about the whole world though? I feel a World Food Bank wouldn't be a main resource to have. Everything goes through changes, and everyone has their own opinion. With that being said, I'm sure their will be other options for resources besides Hardin's.

Life Boat Ethics
I think Garrett Hardin, has some interesting points in this article but I don't agree with what he is saying. When he's talking about the ocean, than yes its the strongest that can survive in the ocean for how many years and you need to be careful of who the choice in the life boat with them. But focusing on one many issue about mankind isn't they way to go we have many factors in life. If a world food bank who help all hungry than maybe people would help. But we do needed more resource, and facts in this article than just someone opinions.

Lifeboat Ethics - Garrett Hardin
In the essay, Hardin uses "lifeboat" as a metaphor to describes resource distribution. His argument was interesting, but I don't agree with Hardin.
If our problem is really about survive on the ocean, I think his solution could probably worked. But we are talking about resource distribution, which directly linked with real human and nations. I don't think that just limiting distribution would solve the problem. To solve this, we need to think about real people, study about various causes and effects, and come up real solution with long-term view.

Row Row Row Your Boat Through Poverty Around The World.....
When referring to the text "Lifeboat Ethics" by Garrett Hardin, one may begin to consider many things. We consider our destiny on this Earth and we begin to realize that everything around us is changing. This text refers to America's good intentions around the world. It talks about the need for survival in this overpopulated world. Hardin compares all this to a lifeboat. The need for survival and the practices that we need to undergo survival.
Hardin refers to many different cultural practices that we have adapted to overtime. He also talks about how two thirds of the earth is poor and one third is rich. He believes that in order to survive we should share. In this case he used the example of a World Food Bank. Some countries will deposit and other countries will withdraw from it. Anything from technology, to advice, or even actual food. He looks to this as an "International Charity". However, I do not agree with these practices.
All for one and one for all could be a positive outlook on a form of survival. However when its you who wants to live and not sacrifice for others, then you may consider going back to your ninth grade science class and refer to Charles Darwin's' "Survival of the Fittest."
Ultimately the whole world needs to focus on the important factors. Needs versus wants. Based off of the growing culture today, if we begin to share with one another people will begin to feel led to greed and prosperity which will lead us into a negative downfall.

It gets the blood pumping
Nike has been a well established company in America for many years. They produce top quality sporting equipment and sponsor some of the worlds best athletes. One of their most prolific slogans is "Just Do It". This alone may not stand out as inspirational, in fact without context it's poor advice. Nike, however, has a different meaning for this simple phrase. It is a call to all people to trust in themselves and achieve what they came for. To "Just Do It" is to forget all the bullshit head games and conquer. This saying is so inspirational because it reminds us that we are capable of anything if we "Just Do It".

"You Won't Be Remembered."
Recently, I attended a service at my church. The service was called "Heart". It was about tapping into who you are and finding out what it truly means to live in light of the Lord. But enough of all that religious stuff. In reality, what I really took from it was the message "You won't be remembered." My pastor had said it numerous times. Not to make us feel like crap. Not to put us down and crush all of our possible dreams. Ultimately he was trying to motivate us to do more to BE more. Now what is this more exactly you ask? More of who you are. More of what you desire to be, and more of who you are scared to be. Sometimes in life we need to do outrageous things to even feel as though we are ALIVE. For me, hearing the phrase "You won't be remembered" really struck a cord in my heart. The goal in life, at least mine is, not to live for all eternity (although that would be cool and a bit freaky) but to create something that will.

-Bruce Springstein
In my eyes, Bruce Springstein represents a true American songwriter. The song "Born to Run" deals with a very relatable story of a young man falling in love with a girl. Yet, he feels trapped in his small town and desires to run away with his love. The title of the song alone, motivates me to keep moving. I never like being stuck in one area for a long time, and i feel i can relate to this song in a big way.

"Great moments... are born from great opportunity. And that's what you have here, tonight, boys. That's what you've earned here tonight. One game. If we played 'em ten times, they might win nine. But not this game. Not tonight. Tonight, we skate with them. Tonight, we stay with them. And we shut them down because we can! Tonight, WE are the greatest hockey team in the world. You were born to be hockey players. Every one of you. And you were meant to be here tonight. This is your time. Their time is done. It's over. I'm sick and tired of hearing about what a great hockey team the Soviets have. Screw 'em. This is your time. Now go out there and take it."

Everything Happens for a Reason
The Best Advice, more like a phrase I was ever given was...
"God has a plan for everything. Everything happens for a reason even if we do not know that reason."
If this is true, why do some things in life feel impossible to accomplish or complete at times. I questioned this so much growing up, as a teenager, and especially now. These are supposed to be the best years of our lives, if this is true, then why are we faced with obstacles each and every day?
I received this quote at a church service one morning and it is something that has become stuck in my mind. Whenever something happens to one of my friends, family members, or even strangers, the best thing I can tell them besides my own personal advice is that "Everything happens for a reason!"

The video I have posted below is an inspirational speech given by a coach to his football team right before a game. I can honestly say music is my life. It probably takes up fifty percent of my day, everyday. Now, the way I listen to music has a lot to do with my live for it. I am talking about sound quality. I have purchased many speaker systems throughout my life, many speakers. it is crazy the difference sound quality makes to a song. I remember my first speaker purchase, a low price, unknown brand speakers. I was excited to set them up and listen to my music everyday while I showered and got ready for school. music plays a huge part in how my mood is for the start of my day. turned out these cheap speakers were very poor quality. basically, I couldn't hear a thing while the shower was on. however, this did not go for long. My birthday came along and I knew what to ask for. I purchased the almighty Beats by Dre Monster Beatbox. It was a single box of pure greatness. the sound quality was awesome. The volume did not even have to be at one hundred percent in order for me to hear a song over the shower noise. I was a happy man.

The Cheesecake Factory
The
Cheesecake Factory is the first restaurant I tried when I come to the United
States, and my favorite place in United States. Also, the cheesecake factory is
famous in Korea. The Cheesecake Factory is a unique, upscale casual dining
restaurant offering approximately 200 menu items including appetizers, pizza,
seafood, steaks, chicken, burgers, pasta, specialty items, salads, sandwiches,
omelets and desserts including approximately 40 varieties of cheesecake and
other baked desserts. Most of all foods price is $10~$30. Also, the cheesecake
price is $6~$8 of each piece. It is a very reasonable price as compared food
portions. I have a good restaurant experience in the cheesecake
factory. Also, you can do take-out services about foods and cheesecakes. If you
don't go to the cheesecake factory before, see my review and then, eat foods
moderately for price, receive nice services and enjoy mood of restaurant. I
hope good restaurant experience for you.

Farmstead, Inc
It looked like a normal restaurant at first view. The front of the
building had a white wall with a small whiteboard shining under the bright
sunshine. There were bushes and trees were here and there outside the
restaurant. The street was so quiet it felt like we were the only ones who were
on the street. I felt a gentle breeze that smelled like freshly baked breads
and grilled cheese softly brushing my arms. Through the multi-paned window, I
saw cheeses piled high on a big, wooden table and high-top tables and stools arranged
right next to the cheese area. The inside of the restaurant looked natural with
fresh flowers on the table and big bright lights hanging from the ceiling. On a
large window facing the street, it said, Farmstead, Inc

Why Chick-fil-A?!?!?!?
Upon ordering at a fast
food restaurant, there are three lines that you will always here; “Would you
like to make that a combo? Would you like to make it a larger for an additional
few cents?” Is that all?” All of these lines get annoying and everyone gets
sick and tired of hearing these lines when they just want to order food. What
makes Chick-fil-A stand out amongst other fast food places is that it is welcoming
for the entire family! The remarkable food and fast service definitely make it
GREAT!

Last Friday, I decided to break the norm and venture out to get something that I've never had before here in providence.
I love Mexican food, but I also love cheap food. When I was first approached by my friends about going to a place called Baja's I was skeptical. They explained it as being a place like Chipotle, or Moe's, just one step away from dining halls - the Franchise, so at first I didn't really know if I wanted to go for something I have already had, for many reasons. With all of that put aside I decided to travel to Thayer Street.....
