Hey. How 'bout that ride in? That must be why they call it Sin City, haha. Have you ever been to Vegas? One of the most interesting cities in the United States with the best food that you can find. Restaurant Guy Savoy, which is one of the few 2 Michelin Starred restaurants in the US. The Mesa Grill owned by Chef Bobby Flay. Nobu. Emeril. Wolfgang Puck. All of these are world-renown top restaurants.
The fall of 2011 I went to Las Vegas for the second time with my 18U travel baseball team the Michigan Selects. We had a Halloween tournament that we played out there. When I wasn't playing baseball, or at the poolside, or up in the room with the guys, I was walking around with my parents.
I went to a handful of different restaurants with my parents while I was there in Vegas. But my favorite was a small Mix and Match restaurant that was in the back corner of the MGM Grand Casino. It was a little Asian/Sushi Bar type restaurant where you sat on extremely short seats. The host pulled out the chairs for you and you sat down in the soft fabric that encompasses you.
We ordered 6 different things to try. Cabbage rolls filled with pork and then a small Asian salad for my mother. My dad and I ordered 2 different things of sushi, seared ahi tuna with a side sauce, and something else.
That Seared Ahi Tuna was perfection in the form of food! Perfectly cooked, evenly coated with spices, gently red in the middle. The plate presentation is small squares of the tuna shingled with the sauce container on the end. Warm on the outside, slightly raw in the middle. Put a small amount of this sauce on top and place it on your tongue…the tuna literally melts throughout your palate. Like I said. Perfection. I would go back and order this in a heartbeat!
