A Trip to the Museum

Living 15 minutes outside of Boston makes it really easy to do fun things in the city. Over spring break my boyfriend and I decided to go to the museum of science. Now this certainly wasn’t my first time here, I have gone on countless school trips, with my family and have even slept over at the museum before. I expected to have a good time but how much fun could I really have looking at things I’ve seen many times before? To my surprise I had the time of my life. There was a lightning show, a fun scientific park to play in and they even have live animals like chicks, alligators and possums. They were awesome! There was so much to look at we spent 4 hours walking around and still didn’t even get to a whole wing of the museum! My expectations weren’t just met but surpassed. You can say I’m a huge kid at heart and you can bet ill be back real soon.

Compare and Contrast

The paintings Swan's Reflecting Elephants and Perception of Time were very similar. I thought that both of them represented death through the environment over a period of time. In Swan's Reflecting Elephants, the picture fades out to deeper and darker colors with less going on on the right side. There is also a woman looking the opposite way of "death" on the left side. In Perception of Time, there are multiple clocks that droop and hang off of different objects. To me, it's saying that the time has passed or time is running out. There is also a figure on the ground in the shape of a face...It seems to be crying with a small puddle of tears on the ground. There is definintely more going on in the first piece of artwork, but they have many similarities.

#NervesOfJelly

During my first semester of senior year I was allowed to leave school to go see a college and as luck would have it, the guy that I was openly crushing on volunteered to go with me. After we got to Manhattan, he decided that he didn’t want to go see the school and I readily agreed to skip the meeting. We went to Central Park and sat amidst other couples and we talked about nothing for about an hour, but had to leave because we were both sweating buckets due to the high humidity. Since we needed a signed letter to get back into school, we decided to skip the rest of the day and go to his house. Once there, he eagerly pointed out how messy my hair was sans my hat and that pushed my already frayed nerves in overdrive. They were already going crazy because not only was this the first day I spent with a boy, this was the first time I’d been alone with one. Not to mention, the banana in my bag got squashed and the water spilled. While trying to clean it up, I succeeded in tracking water through his house, but after that dilemma, we sat down and watch TV and started joking around. To my utter mortification, his hand ascended from my side to under my armpits during a tickle fight. Now as my nerves were on high the entire day coupled with the heat outside, there was a puddle underneath my arm. Needless to say, that bit of fun ended and we resumed to watching TV, until the school day was over. We have never talked about this situation, but it has always lingered between us; the girl who sweats like the Pacific.

Hell's Kitchen

I've been watching Hell's kitchen for at least 6 years now and i can't help but notice a trend; people really need to learn to shut the hell up and stop being cocky. Every single week Chef X gives Chef Y criticism about the risotto and how it's so easy. Then you see the next week preview and Chef X has THEIR thumb in their own ass while Ramsay chews their ear off on how shitty they did on the risotto. Great Scott, it never ends.

#TheChallenege

If I were seven feet twelve inches with three breasts, an upside-down green beak, with thirty finger, one leg with a left pointing knee cap, and eyes in my ear would you still talk to me? These are the kinds of questions I usually ask my friends. They responses are mainly a unanimous “what the f**k?” followed by a hasty “NO!!” I like to issue these tests, of sorts, to them to see how deep our bonds of friendship lie. Is my personality that of a rock stars? Would you be able to see through my grotesque appearance and still love me? Well, I can tell you with certainty that they cannot. My friends try to explain to me that they would never know my personality because with looks like that they would never talk to me in the first place. I usually feint tears and ask them if it’s really true that they would let a poor soul suffer a life of solitude and those horrible people always respond with “hell yeah” as if any possibility is absurd. So I ask all of you, would you talk to me anyway?

Located three blocks from the Barclays center is a tiny restaurant that sells the best sushi. Personally, I am in love with the California Roll, but I have begun to experiment with other selections. The Mango Shrimp Roll is by far the best indulgence I’ve had. The mango that they use is sweet and tangy, coupled with the salt of the shrimp… oh wow! It’s heaven. I can’t even begin to describe it. This may seem like any other sushi, but as my friend says: “this must be laced with crack”. The dish is absolutely addictive. I, myself, hate seafood and shellfish and I can only eat small doses in one sitting on occasion, but whenever I’m back in Brooklyn I make this dish my sole mission. It’s funny; my friend hates sushi with a passion. The look, the smell, the form that it comes in, and the texture turn her off. However, when I took her to my haven and begged her to try a single roll she order three more plates and one to go, after we left and went home, she texted me asking if I would like to go back the next day. She goes by the shop almost every other weekend. Sushi has become her new addiction. I am convinced that if anyone has this delicacy they will fall in love with it immediately.

Expectations were met

A time when my expectations were met was at a new restaurant back home. I heard so many good things about the new restaurant, so my friends and I decided to give it a try. The wait to be seated wasn't long at all for a busy Friday night. The service was great the manager and chef went to each table to personally talk to everyone. It was so many delicious foods to choose from. We put in our order and the food came out pretty fast. The food was really good and everything I expected.

What Do I Wanna Do?

As most of us know, most of us here are learning to become amazing chefs. But some of us don't know what we exactly want to be when we grow up. We had an idea when we came in. Either personal chef, cook for a catering company, or be a nutritionist. Before I came to Johnson and Wales I had it in my head that I wanted to open my own restaurant. But when I came to Johnson and Wales, a lot of the chefs said it isn't the best idea to do. So now I am having mixed feelings about opening a restaurant. So what do I do now? Do I become a nutritionist, Catering chef, personal chef? I don't know, now I have to make a huge decision on what I want my future to be. Their are many different roads I can go down. But not sure which one I should take. So now I have to think about which profession I want to be, and make my decision soon because the future comes quick!

The temples of mexico

For April vacation my family took a drive to Miami so we could go on a cruise. My graduation and birthday, we're on the same day so for an early grad/birthday present my aunt pay for me and her to go to the temples. I was expecting a VERY BORING TOUR GUIDE. Was I wrong, Angel has to be hands down THE BEST TOUR GUIDE I've ever had. He knew so much about the temples and the history of Mexico (yes, history geek here) that it was one of the most amazing time I had with this aunt. Also our family friend was with us, did you no that on ancient grounds you can't curse. SHE DID NOT, AND THE COPS CAME OUT OF THE WOOD WORK. Now I have to explain use the 2yrs I had in Spanish class ( a little rusty I might add) THANKFUL ANGEL CAME TO THE RESCUE. So what I thought was going to be a calm and relaxing day with a not so good tour guide, became interesting and amazing in every aspect of it.

new start

I was always a heavy child since I was a boy, being pounds over weight and having that challenge from looking different from everyone else. I might of been a over weight kid but I loved my sports, my favorite is baseball. I figured out that I must loss this weight in order to be able to run around the bases with out being lapped. I made the decision which was to join my town rec football team in 2008. Me being a twelve year old 185 lb. kid with only one goal to loss weight. my football team was one of the best conditioned team out there my coaches would have us run for days. I had two months to loss 35 pounds. There was times where I would dress in a sauna suit under my pads to sweat  as much as possible, sauna suits are pretty much a garbage bag that you wear. I would wear that suit for days out.  My coach even dedicated a weight loss day where we would condition for straight three hours. After practice I would lift up my shirt to take off my suit and I would have the biggest smile. my friends would ask me why im smiling after catching my breath from 2 laps. once I lift up the sauna suit  I would see and feel a huge puddle of sweat just pour right off my body. Seeing all that fall off my body made me feel amazing and proud. To be a lineman you have to be under 150 lb. and that was my goal. Sadly I just missed the mark for the first game I was 2 lb. over, I was really disappointed in myself but I was still proud in my self. since I didn't make weight for the first game I would have to get a weight check before every game stripped down in my under wear with my coaches and the opponents coaches waiting for my new goal to be completed being able to play a game and shove that weight problem in peoples faces. I drop even more weight in football that the next time I went on  that scale it wouldn't even move.

The "NEW" Girlfriend

In the beginning of every baseball season I always buy myself new equipment. Whether it be just baseball apparel to a baseball bat, I always like to have brand spankin new equipment. What excites me the most, is looking at all the new bats that come out for the new year. When picking out a new bat, it is crucial, for me, to get one that feels and looks incredible. I like to be original so I usually pick a bat that I know no one else will have. This year I decided to get the DeMarini Voodoo Overlord, the sexiest bat on the market and also my "girlfriend" for the spring season. Looking at this bat in pictures was completely different to when I got to see it when it landed on my door step in late February. I am like a little kid at Christmas time, its the best time  of the year when im able to get a brand new bat and from that moment on I just cant stop looking at it. Overall, my expectations were exceeded and me and my new girlfriend have a great relationship thus far haha.

A Trip to Tokyo

When you are sushi lover you would think that you'd try all kinds of sushi at a variety of different places, right?! Typically you'd probably like to experience it ALL! Being that I live in Providence, Rhode Island and I attend a culinary school, I am totally that girl. I love to go out to eat and experiment, especially when it comes to sushi! One day, after lacrosse practice I was really craving some. My coach had suggested a place called Tokyo on Wickenden. I went with a few of my teammates and we were really looking forward to our meal! My coach told me how much she LOVED Tokyo and how when she went she brought a whole lot of money, because when she gets sushi....she REALLY gets a WHOLE-LOTTA sushi. Turns out my experience was the exact opposite and I was super bummed. The orders were combined on the same plates, when the sushi had been ordered individually. They brought out our starter salads last and the service was terrible!!! Note-to-self, when craving really good sushi go to a place that you know will exceed your expectations.

First class of Johnson&Wales

I'm an international student. Also, this school is first foreign school for me. I went to the Korea school in Korea before come to the United Sates. So, I was really nervous and afraid about the class. When I enter the my first class in Johnson & Wales, all student were American expect me. I was having trouble adjusting to the class. My first class was economic class. Economic class learned many difficult words and contents. Economic is also difficult when I learn my language. However, my economic class professor was really kind, helpful and he understood me. Also, my classmates were helpful and initiate a conversation to me or ask something about my country or some class contents. I thought that American people were curt and individualism before attend class. But, it was wrong! Many American people were really nice, funny and helpful!!!!!! Taking this opportunity, I was less nervous and afraid when I enter the other class.

Johnson and Wales Freshman Labs

When I first came to this school I didn't really know what to expect from the lab classes. I thought the chefs were going to be super strict and would expect you to do everything correctly before you were taught it. I expected the work load to be overwhelming. I was very wrong. The chef's were, for the most part, very nice. Sure, some were very strict, but they knew that your entire reason for being at this school is to learn. They aren't going to yell at you for not knowing something, they'll teach you what you don't know, that's why they're here. Some classes production was jam packed but it was never anything you couldn't handle if you pushed yourself. Ultimately, the labs were less stressful then I had expected and I learned more because of it.

Anchorman 2

Almost 10 years after the first "Anchorman" movie came to theaters, a sequel was released chronicling the life of the legendary news anchor Ron Burgundy. This movie had a lot of hype surrounding its premiere because the first one was such a success.
I personally felt let down by the second movie. Everyone had their own expectations that I think the movie just had too many expectations to live up to. I think the "Anchorman" story would have best been left as a single movie. I believe the creators tried to include everything that people wanted to see in the movie, and it resulted in the plot being lost. It was certainly a funny movie, but it was very hard to see what the main purpose was of the two hour movie.

Electric Toothbrush

About a month ago, I went to the dentist and had my teeth scaled. Right after I came home, I bought a Phillips electric toothbrush. The dentist had shown me a video that was about “how to use a toothbrush and dental floss correctly,” and that video made me want an electric toothbrush. Using an electric toothbrush seemed cleaner and more precise than using a regular one.

The electric toothbrush looked good when I bought it. It has a nice, soft brush part that was small enough to brush every inch in my mouth. It has rechargeable power so that I don’t have to worry about a battery, and it even has a 2 minute timer so that I can keep track of my brushing time.

After I brushed my teeth with the electric toothbrush for the first time, however, I was quite disappointed. Because there is no extreme brushing motion like these in with a regular toothbrush, I can’t feel refreshed or that my teeth are clean even though I brushed my teeth in the right way. The body part of the toothbrush keeps touching my teeth because of the vibration, and my teeth gets tingly after I brush my teeth. Also, toothpaste bubbles get all over the place.

I am still getting used to using an electric toothbrush, but buying it doesn’t seem to have been a great choice for me.

The Best Thing I Ever Ate

The best thing I ever ate would have to be a super beef three way from Bill and Bobs Roast Beef. These are not just any roast beef sandwiches. They’re the best roast beef sandwiches. I never really had a roast beef three way until I met my boyfriend and now I would never settle for anything less. The best beef is roasted perfectly and stuffed generously inside a warm onion roll. It is smeared with mayo and a slice of melted American cheese tops the mouthwatering beef. But what really make this the best, is the sauce. The spicy yet slightly sweet barbecue sauce that coats every piece of meat smothering it in goodness. Wow! It is that good. If I wasn’t so far away I would go out and get one right now.

From Wildcat to Wildcat

Ever since my Sophomore year of high school, I knew I wanted to attend Johnson and Wales University. I had been on many trips and tours to the school, falling in love a little more each time. Arriving in September, the scenery, surroundings and curriculum were everything I expected...yes, even the dorm rooms and community bathrooms. Everything was great, but one thing did take me by surprise.
I am in the fast track program here at JWU, which means that one semester of my lab credits were already satisfied, due to my high school education. Since kids in my class had "experience" from high school, I was expecting a faster pace, organized kitchen. Boy was I wrong. It was very interesting to see the different levels of intensity in the kitchen and ironically, some kids in my class decided to eaither drop out of the culinary program, or leave JWU completely. I guess I was just expecting a more committed and driven group of students in this program. You only get what you make of it, so make it the best and take advantage of your resources.

The Sweetest Bread I Ever Ate!

The best thing I ever ate, was delicious and full of flavor. It was a sweet bread. The flavors hit my tongue, like a wave hitting the rocks as it crashes in. The different unique flavor was incredible. It opened my eyes to different foods, and got me into cooking. I think everybody that does culinary, started cooking because of the best thing they ever ate. Luckily I got to eat this, and realize I want to have other people enjoy the same feeling I felt while eating. Whenever I eat sweet breads an over powering enjoyment fills my head and warms my heart. Like a little kid on Christmas. The first thought that came to my head after eating sweet bread, was the first time I cooked something for myself. It tasted so good, cause I made it and put my heart into the first thing I ate. I tasted it when I ate my first sweet bread because the man who made it, made it with so much heart it tasted good. I advise you to do the same with not thinking about it twice.

Johnson & Wales in a Nut Shell!

How any people upon coming to college expected to be this entirely new atmosphere? For me, I feel as if I am still in high school, the kids are just older but still match the immaturity level. Their are very few students at this school that tend to take it seriously at all times. High School was free and it was mandatory if you wanted to graduate grade school. College on the other hand is an option, yet alone it costs nearly $50,000 a school year.
Many kids feel as if college is a big party but in reality it isn't. And that is where I believe JWU needs to step in a little. They allow their students to go out, party and come back completely wasted. As long as you can get past the security guard and to your room, it is nearly impossible to get caught.
I expected college to be this whole new chapter in my life. Believe me when I say that it is, but it is nothing that I would have ever expected it to be.

long board

A few months ago, I bought a brand new long board. I never long boarded before, but I use too skateboard so it was no trouble at all. The first time I seen a long board I thought that it was a dumb idea, because I said to myself that it would be impossible to do any tricks, and that it was pointless. but once I came to college and see all these people with long boards made me want to try. it was a couple of days till I realized that long boards a awesome. I also found out what they are really meant for going fast for down hills, which you cant really do with a skateboard due to speed wobbles. the best part of long boarding is the nice ride for a long distance because of the wheels. the wheels are much bigger and softer then a regular skateboard, when you have bigger wheels you don't have to worry about cracks. buying a long board was a great choice for me.

Brunch- The Best Thing I Ever Ate

The best thing I ever ate, at least in recent memory, has to be the baked polenta and eggs at Nick's on Broadway in Providence. I first went to Nick's this past weekend with my brother and sister-in-law for their legendary brunch. This polenta is the holy grail of polenta. Even if you don't like polenta, it is so creamy and cheesy and luscious you will never look at polenta the same way again. It's baked so the outside forms a crisp shell but the inside is soft, and so ooey-gooey. You can taste every perfectly seasoned ingredient balancing together from the Schartner Farms Corn and butternut squash, to the light oily pumpkin seed pesto. On top is why we get to eat it for brunch. Two perfectly over easy eggs and imported Parmesan cheese. The yolk of the eggs breaks and forms a velvety sauce that blends everything together. It took two hours between waiting for a table and for food for me to gorge myself on this polenta but I would wait twice that any day. If you haven't been to Nick's on Broadway yet, you have to go.

The Best Thing I Ever Ate (:

The Best Thing I Ever Ate would have to relate back to when I was in ninth grade. My Choir class went on a trip to Italy for a week over Easter to sing in various churches and cathedrals. The first night there, we all sat down to get something to eat.
Unlike our pizza here, it is nothing related to how pizza looks, yet alone tastes in Italy. Each pizza is about ten inches round, but so thin that a single person could consume one as a meal. I would do anything to be able to travel back to Italy just for a day. The smell of a freshly made Italian Pizza being brought to my table versus getting one boxed up from a local shop around Providence. Nothing will ever be able to compare!

The Best Thing I Ever Purchased

In high school my crazy English teacher, Linda Hammond always took a group of people to Europe over spring break. Not only is she crazy, Linda Hammond is an old, exuberant outrageous woman! She is very into the theatre and she always directs the plays that go on at the high school. She has a great passion for teaching and she is obsessed with Europe!

I was lucky to be one of the students who attended the trip to Europe over spring break. We ventured to England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland- in that order. There were spectacular views everywhere we went. London had men with tall hats, symbols of the queen and even an interesting clock- Big Ben, ever heard of it?! Scotland had men in skirts, wearing absolutely no underwear. Needless to say, it was an interesting culture shock.

When I finally made it to Ireland, I felt at home. My family is relatively seventy five percent Irish and many of my ancestors have derived from there. Throughout the whole entire trip I was looking for some sort of token so that I could remember the whole experience (other than the hundred billion pictures I took). I went into a little Irish gift shop located outside a church. In the gift shop I found a ring, called a claddagh . It is a ring that has two hands holding a heart, with a crown. A symbol I have seen many times before. My grandmother and mother both have jewelry that contains the symbol and it was something that really struck my eye. I then decided to purchase it-what the heck it was from Ireland of course!

Rightfully so, I am incredibly happy that I purchased the ring. I wear it every day and it is a nice symbolic reminder of that trip! I soon learn exactly what the ring symbolized. The ring represents love, loyalty and friendship. Those traits are great traits to have, traits I hope to carry with me forever!

Congratulations, you’re special.

Just by existing, you are a statistical anomaly. According to the math and statistics, you should not exist. The chances of you being born are about 1 in 7.9x10^ 136,031. That is 79 with 136, 031 zeroes afterwards. And that’s not even taking into account the probability of your ancestors meeting and survival throughout the years. Those odds are so insane, so astronomical, that you shouldn’t exist. And yet here you are, proving that you can beat the odds. (Can provide math upon request)
Not only that, but you are, at this very moment as you are reading this sentence, at the exact center of the universe. Out of all seven billion people on the Earth, out of all seven continents, out of all eight planets in the Sol system, all of the star systems in the Milky Way Galaxy, and the local galaxy clusters, and all the super clusters, and the whole universe, observable and unobservable, you are at the very center.
It helps to think of the universe like a balloon that’s partially blown up. So the balloon is the Universe, and if you draw dots on the balloon, the dots would be all the super clusters, galaxy clusters, galaxies, star systems, planets, asteroids, comets, and people. If you point at a single dot on the balloon, and continue blowing it up, all the other dots expand out around that one dot. If you point at a different dot, all the other dots expand out around that one. So technically, you are the center of the universe. Congratulations, you’re special.

BEST THING I EVER ATE!

Bonjour, from Paris, France. When you think of Paris what comes to mind? Is it the Eiffel Tower or the many monuments and sight seeing that you can see? Well when I think of Paris I think of the best thing I ever ate. At Au Petite Riche, a restaurant right near the Eiffel Tower you can enjoy some garlicy, butter, succulent escargot. They are served either in the dozen or half dozen and are placed in a circle around a specific plate made for the shells. Along with this meal they supply you with a shell holder and a little fork, for when you dive right into the shell looking for the little guys. The snails are boiled, then finished in a the oven with a parsley butter that literally is to die for... don't die of course. You take the snail out of its shell, pour the butter all over it, place it in your mouth and then begin to lift off into to space or somewhere like heaven. Once I finished all 12 of the snails, I like to dip the glorious bread that is also served, into the butter. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Paris was great also, by the way! Great trip!

Best Thing I Ever Ate: Comfort Food

There is one food I can't get enough of. Somehow, I always come back craving more and more. Popping the bite sized food in my mouth and leaving a collection of toothpicks on my plate, they are irresistible. The small rolled meat dish called bracciolini, always reminds me of home. This is without a doubt my favorite and comfort food. Flattened out and rolled with butter, seasoned breadcrumbs, a touch of tomato sauce and cooked until tender, it is mouth watering. It reminds me of climbing onto a stool to reach the counter and helping my grandmother roll the bracciolini and heating up the homemade pizzelle maker. If I close my eyes, I can smell the tomato sauce slowly simmering on the stove with an abundance of garlic in the air. It brings me right back to my childhood at home.

The best thing I ever ate was a Philadelphia cheese steak. It's not a fancy dish that you to spend a lot money for. It's very simple and easy to make. The tender well seasoned beef, sauteed onions and delicious cheese makes it so hard to resist.

Best Thing Ever.

It’s the dead of winter, the only supplies you have in your house are: apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, oats, butter, brown sugar and flour. You might think you’re in for a long winter; however, I see the most delicious dessert on this planet, apple crisp. You start by tossing paper-thin apples coated in brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg and lay them at the bottom of a baking dish. Then you mix soft butter, flour and oats to form a crumbly topping. Sprinkle generously on top of the apples. Throw that sucker in 350-degree oven for 30 minutes. When it comes out, the sugar has caramelized to the apples, the oats are toasted with a slight crunch to them and it smells like pure heaven. Take an enormous chunk out of the pan and serve with French vanilla ice cream. That is hands down one of the best things I have ever eaten.

Space Heater

I spent my internship in Cape Cod this winter. It was a very positive experience working at a restaurant with such great quality products and ideas. However, Cape Cod is not an interesting place during the winter months in any sense of the word. It was just very cold and boring. When I was not working at the restaurant I sat in my room at the house I rented.
My first week at the restaurant, I was living in a hotel because I could not find a place to live while I was there. One of the employees at the restaurant offered me to rent a room in his house where only him and his wife lived. Out of desperation, I took the offer fairly quickly. Time passed so slowly while I sat in my room staring at the blank blue walls. The barren room was on the verge of driving me insane, and I began buying things to help my time spent in this house pass with less frustration. The best purchase I made was a small portable space heater.
The house was built in 1979 and its walls were thin and wind would scratch up against the windows constantly. The heat seemed to hardly work, and the owners never turned it on. This space heater was the only thing that brought me comfort and warmth. Without it, my internship would certainly have been more torturous.

Best Food I've Ever Had

Probably the most memorable eating experience I've had was while I was in the country Peru. Everything about this place was new to me, from the vibrant culture to the world class food. My first day in the city of Lima was full of sightseeing. I got to walk through some of the cities large open air markets, view the old Spanish influenced architecture, and get a taste of the local cuisine.
Peru has a very wonderful food scene with rich flavorful dishes. Because Peru was conquered by the Spanish much of the food eaten there has a strong Spanish influence. Classic European cuisine found a home in South America but with twist. The local food is also heavily influenced by the native indigenous Peruvians. Many fruits and vegetables available in Peru can't be found in other parts of the world. One particular encounter with one of these mysterious fruits left me amazed and craving more.
The Cherimoya is an odd, oval-shaped fruit similar in size to a mango but with green scaly skin. The flesh of the Cherimoya fruit is creamy off white and is spotted with shiny black seeds the size of olive pits. Despite its odd, slightly off putting appearance, the Cherimoya fruit has a lush, creamy texture similar to custard and a flavor that is best described as a combination of pineapple, banana, and strawberry. This fruit is perfect for flavoring smoothies and other tropical drinks. It would also be an excellent flavor for a refreshing sorbet.

Best Food I've ever ate

The best thing I have ever ate is fruit tarts. I ate this food in Providence. The  place name is pastiche. In this place pastries and cakes are always excellent, as are the coffee offerings. My personal favorites are the fruit tarts and tiramisu. Many other people also like fruit tarts in pastiche. REALLY GOOD!!!!! The fruit tarts cream sweet and the fruits always very fresh!!!!!!! If you go this place later, you can not eat fruit tarts. The fruit tarts usually sold quickly. And the pastiche place mood really nice and antique. Very small place but they have a lot of visitors. When you enter the place, you can sweet smell and feel so warm.

Best thing I've ever ate???

The best thing I've ever ate is called a zeppole. YOU CAN ONLY GET IT ONE DAY A YEAR, let me repeat ONE DAY ONLY. Zeppole is an Italian dessert, that comes out march 19th for St Josephs day.   The average cost for one in Rhode Island is about $4.00. Its a fried puff pastry that has either custard or cannoli style cream. Than topped with more of the cream with a cherry on top and dusted with powered sugar. I LOVE IT!!! I would go to medical school, and i hate blood, hospitals and doctors. I would drive in a blizzard  just to get one.

Happy St Josephs day, GO GET ONE NOW!!!!!!

Best Thing I've Ever Ate

It isn't extravagant, or fancy. It is simple and delicious.  Whenever the family gets together for a holiday or whatever occasion, I seek out this dish and am always happy to see it.
My grandmother, Mimmie, makes a great shrimp & crab meat casserole.  It's always served out of the dish she bakes it in.  The top of the casserole is deceiving.  It is monotone in color, but makes up for it in flavor.  The top is the best part.  Ritz crackers make it crunchy, buttery, and golden brown.  The inside is not creamy or cheesy, which I love. There's always big pieces of shrimp and crab everywhere in the deep pan.
The reason why I crave this dish sometimes is because it's only available to me a few times a year.  Also, because it reminds me of home.  I guess you can call it my comfort food.
Shrimp & crab meat casserole is the best thing I ever ate, and will continue to eat.

Best Place I Ever Eaten In

The restaurant O’neul is located in Seoul on a street that is full of embassies, decent buildings, and expensive cars. When you first arrive there, you might be a little intimidated by this luxury atmosphere, but when you enter the restaurant, you will become comfortable with their extremely polite attitude and some sort of bamboo fragrance.

After you are escort to your private room, the staff will get your coat and bag, and will serve you the perfect temperature medium-hot towels that you can use to wipe your hands. You can hear the Asian version of classical music, which is unconventional, above the ceiling-attached speaker, and there is a traditional Korean garden with seasonal flowers right next to your room window.

My five course meal consisted of mussel soup, blanched octopus and seaweed wrap, steamed pork belly with herb kimchi, white radish water kimchi noodles, and rice cake waffle with tea. Each dish was incredible, but the thing that really surprised me was each plate and food temperature. Each serving dish and main dish was the right temperature of course, but the rocks underneath the octopus or the traditional chinaware for the water even had its own perfect temperature. I honestly didn’t like the raw-kind of seafood, but their mussel and octopus was just amazing and the steamed pork belly melted in my mouth. I’ve tried “pine leaf tea” for the first time at O’neul and that tea became my favorite.

“Everything is about fineness” said Thomas Keller. Because of the fineness, O’neul is the best place I’ve ever eaten in.
