Johnson and Wales Freshman Labs

When I first came to this school I didn't really know what to expect from the lab classes. I thought the chefs were going to be super strict and would expect you to do everything correctly before you were taught it. I expected the work load to be overwhelming. I was very wrong. The chef's were, for the most part, very nice. Sure, some were very strict, but they knew that your entire reason for being at this school is to learn. They aren't going to yell at you for not knowing something, they'll teach you what you don't know, that's why they're here. Some classes production was jam packed but it was never anything you couldn't handle if you pushed yourself. Ultimately, the labs were less stressful then I had expected and I learned more because of it.

  1. I completely agree with you!! I went to a public high school, and worked at a few bakeries, however I did not have a great deal of experience before coming to JWU. I expected it to be very strict and overwhelming just like you did! It was a great adjustment though. The chefs are really awesome. They are approachable and help you understand the information that is being taught.
