Surrealist Contemporary Art

This painting is done by the artist Yuko Shimizu. What could this piece of artwork be trying to say about society today?

  1. My first impression of this artwork is weird and scary. Everyone focus on their red books and front people are leer at the guy who is in the middle. Dominant colors used in the painting are blue and red, which give cold and strong image. The guy who is in the middle only has lively image that about to move or runout. I think this artwork reveals selfishness and individualism in our society. Everyone is just focusing on their work, sometimes see eachother with no happy face... The painting also looks similar with how we play with our smartphone.
