What Do I Wanna Do?

As most of us know, most of us here are learning to become amazing chefs. But some of us don't know what we exactly want to be when we grow up. We had an idea when we came in. Either personal chef, cook for a catering company, or be a nutritionist. Before I came to Johnson and Wales I had it in my head that I wanted to open my own restaurant. But when I came to Johnson and Wales, a lot of the chefs said it isn't the best idea to do. So now I am having mixed feelings about opening a restaurant. So what do I do now? Do I become a nutritionist, Catering chef, personal chef? I don't know, now I have to make a huge decision on what I want my future to be. Their are many different roads I can go down. But not sure which one I should take. So now I have to think about which profession I want to be, and make my decision soon because the future comes quick!

  1. I've had the same thoughts about this since I started going here too. I wanted to open a restaurant but was discouraged when some of the Chefs talked down about the idea. I still am not positive what I want to do after school, but I'm not ready to decide just yet. When it comes time I may still open a restaurant, of what ever it is I would like. I've decided not to let the opinions of people such as the chefs of JWU make up my mind for me.

  2. Luckily you're not alone. Knowing for sure what your future holds in store is impossible. I have found that opportunities to do amazing things will present themselves to you and you should seize them. At first they may not appear to be interesting or worthwhile but from every experience there is something to learn. If you can't decide what you want to do right now it's o.k. Dreams change and it's possible that in the future you find yourself doing something that you never considered doing in the first place.
